BME Involvement and Partnership Working
The programme for the day included a number of presentations on key initiatives and programmes as well as opportunities for discussions on these issues. The Assistant Chief Executives of Leicester City Council (Keith Murdoch) and Leicestershire County Council (Andy Robinson) both presented how their organisations can better engage with the BME Voluntary and Community Organisations and the opportunities that exist for this.
Other presentations on the day focused on Local Compacts and BME Codes of Good Practice as well as raising awareness on Tendering and Procurement processes.
The programme also included a series of short presentations that were designed to improve awareness of Faith and Belief Legislation, Public Law and The Mental Capacity Act.
LEMP got feedback through the conference on some of its developmental work and ensured that attendees were aware of the different opportunities that exist at present for their engagement in influencing policy and strategy across Leicester and Leicestershire.
